We are delighted to be able to share this enlightening article on greening sex and sexuality, courtesy of our friends over at the Dinah Project.

The Dinah Project is a wonderful endeavor in promoting healthy sexuality from a woman’s perspective (but not exclusively), through education, open communication, and recommendation based on experience as educators and professional public health practitioners.

The site is managed from Israel, and its founder was one of the early pioneers of Israel’s Greenaction NGO, one of the country’s first grassroots green organisations.

We salute this effort in concern for human sexuality & the environment!

In a world rightfully obsessed with the environment, how many of us take the time to consider the impact of one of humanities most basic instincts. Sure it’s easy to recycle a beer can or to place old newspapers in the collection bin, but what about sex, and sexual behaviour? How many of us are playing green?

Only humans and dolphins separate reproduction from sexual behaviour (Dick's note: Umm I don’t think so, there is a few other animals) and I’ve never seen a dolphin wear a condom or use a vibrator. If we are going to protect our environment for future generations, and let’s not forget that the population explosion is one of the most series issues facing the planet, <<<--- (Dick's note; HA!!!)

(Dick's note: umm sorry...hype, example: We have, minus the rainforests, that we have to leave alone; deserts, which we can now put to use with desalinated water technology; and ice caps soon to melt away, and Antarctica is HUGE, without counting those areas, we have roughly 23 billion acres of “usable” land on earth, ok, so a family of 10 on 10 acres, that’s an acre per person. You could sustain roughly 20 billion people. Greed is the problem not overpopulation. Also we have people stacked into High-rise buildings, and of course there is the possibility of "star treckin”, settlement of other planets, etc..... But ok ok, you POOR brainwashed westerners, I can see your trying... so continue... LOL :lol:

LOL :lol:

) they are the best option available to protect us from STDs, which need to be treated with antibiotics and other drugs that incur a more harmful burden on our biosphere and our bodies.

Sex toys can be a great resource for safe sex, or they can be dangerous. Buying toys involves having information on the materials used and the source of power to use them.

¤ Try using rechargeable batteries, chargeable machines or solar powered toys, where possible

¤ If you do use regular batteries, dispose of them responsibly in battery collection containers

¤ Avoid buying toys made with phthalates or PVC. Phthalates are possibly carcinogenic whereas PVC manufacturing is ecologically disastrous

¤ Support green adult stores that distinguish the materials that they sell and that the sources of their products practice fair trade

The Dinah Project believes that as citizens of this ailing planet, we all need to live our lives in the healthiest possible way for our bodies and our environment. This means that…

¤ Sex should be a measure of good health

¤ Sex should contribute to good health

¤ Sex should advance our mental and physical wellbeing

¤ Sex should be safe from disease, violence and stress

¤ Sex should be green
