I'm here with my buddy Gary.

Gary played a combat role with the US military and got a medical discharge and now he's in the Philippines.

The beauty of the situation for guys like Gary is that the US military takes real good care of you once you get here. I'll let Gary explain a bit more.

"Yeah, the VA here in the Philippines is pretty good... Full access to all the facilities in the States for the most part. Prescriptions. Get your education. All those facilities are available to you here."

"They're located in Manila on Roxas Boulevard. It's real easy to find."

Now, you're living in Cebu so how's that work with the VA being in Manila?

"With the VA in manila, they'll pay for my flight to send me from Cebu to Manila, put me up in the hotel room overnight. I go to the appointment, take care of business and they'll fly me back to Cebu. "

So basically, they're giving you money to live in the Philippines and they send you the checks, put the money in the bank..?

"Yeah, that's exactly right. I have all my payments sent to my local Filipino bank.

"So they're giving you money to live, they're giving you free meds, they're flying you in and out of Manila to get taken care of..."

"Conversely, the IRS has just set up a branch office in Manila."
