LAST UPDATE
Bolivian President Evo Morales, whose plane was diverted in Europe this week due to false rumors that US surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden was on board, says the Latin American country does not need the United States Embassy in La Paz.

On Tuesday, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy refused to allow Morales' plane, which was flying from Moscow back to Bolivia, to cross their airspace. Morales' life had been put in danger by the forced emergency landing in Austria, Bolivian Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca said after the incident.

Speaking on Thursday in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba where the leaders of Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay gathered to show their solidarity with the Bolivian president, Morales blamed the US for pressuring European states to refuse to allow his plane to fly through their airspace.

He added that his plane was forced to land in the Austrian capital Vienna, and called it a violation of international law.

"We do not need the embassy of the United States," said Morales, adding that leaders of his party -- the Movement for Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples -- had asked him to take action.

"We don't need them to come here with the excuse of cooperation," he stated.

"My hand would not shake to close the US Embassy. We have dignity, sovereignty. Without the United States, we are better politically, democratically."

The Bolivian president was in Moscow to attend a meeting of natural gas-producing nations.

Bolivia is one of the countries to which Snowden has applied for asylum.

Washington has asked Ecuador, Cuba, Venezuela, and Russia not to provide asylum to Snowden.

On June 6, The Guardian reported that a top secret US court order allows the US National Security Agency to collect data on the millions of US citizens who are customers of the phone company Verizon.

On the same day, the Washington Post reported that the NSA had direct access to internet servers, saying their source, a career intelligence officer, was horrified about the capabilities of the systems used by the US intelligence agency.

On June 9, Snowden admitted his role in the leaks in a 12-minute video posted by The Guardian.

The NSA scandal took even broader dimensions when Snowden revealed information about its espionage activities targeting friendly countries.

I know why they are so desperate to catch this guy. He has info that would ..... people off far more than losing their privacy. It's this : the NSA serves personal communications, dealing with matters of investment, to the likes of Goldman Sachs, and other high bidders. They are like a subscription service, which is able to be right, 100[[]%] of the time. How much would you pay for the info they have? Which country gets downgraded tomorrow? What will be the price of gold, or oil, or Nettflix tomorrow? They can definitely tell you, being that they can get into ANYBODY'S emails, phone calls, etc. This is nothing more than a king sized scam, setting the richest, and corporations, and banks up, to become emporers and empires, all the while, impoverishing the rest of humanity.

Good for Bolivia. Bolivia is a Gas Exportation state, and has plenty going for them to form alliances with nations that mutually respect them. The big question I have is; what does 'snowden' matter to france, italy, portugal, & spain? He (snowden) isn't THEIR whistle-blower! Why do they disrupt Bolivian President flight over 'snowden'?

To prevent infiltration by terrorist nations, all peace loving countries must close US, Israeli embassies, cut off their foreign aids, drive out all of their embassy employees and staffs because they are all given a special obligatory assignment in your country. Peace on earth...

It seems diplomatic immunity is only for the powerful countries. Weaker ones don't get that privilege. What was done to Evo Morales is illegal and insulting. It was, without a doubt, a decision forced by the US. Bolivia should expel the US ambassador from Bolivia. It should also expel the ambassadors of the countries which did not allow his plane to cross their airspace.Such moves by Europe speak volumes about how much freedom they have given up and are US slaves. Unfortunately, democracy is useless here, because regardless of who is elected, ends up prioritizing the wishes of the US instead of their own people.

Hostile Act!
Jul 5, 2013 11:32 AM
The ever polite Russian diplomats/ministry chided US-Zio west rogue regimes in an understated tone that it was an unfriendly acts on the part of those countrie (France, Spain,Portugal et al) to deny safe air passage to the Bolivian Presidential jet. But in reality their act was not only unfriendly but hostile and endangering the lives of the craft's passenger -- including a sovereign leader. So for a mean and malicious acts on their part, closing US embassy and persona non grata-ing its staff is commensurate with Washington's covert and life-threatening orchestration. Imagine if the jet ran out of fuel had to do emergency landing endangering its passengers and crew? Such thuggish acts on the part of the Zio-neocons scums! Outrightly despicable and unspeakble!

Heart moving support!
Jul 5, 2013 9:17 AM
It's a heart-moving to learn that LatAm in persons (N. Maduro, R. Correa, later C. Kirchner of Argntina and Surinam's president) took the trouble to greet President Morales when he touched down in La Paz after being hijacked by the pirate-cum-rogue regimes of the West. Progressive countries need to galvanize this resistance stance toward Zio-West rogue regimes and discipline them -- either through reduction of diplomatic ties or (counter) sanctions. Next time, Russia better provide Sukhoi escort jets for their distinguised guests -- better still, equipped them with Iskander missiles-- until safe airspace!

Evo Morales would be taking the absolutely correct step if he and other South American states were to break relations with the monstrosity of the north. He should further break relations with the American slave regimes, the wretched French, Italian, Portugese and Spanish leadership who refused "air space" to him on American dictates. America is the puppet master of the Eurpeans and the pinnacle of the axis of evil in the world, playing god wherever and whenever it likes. Countries should unite to act to break its stranglehold and that of its European puppets who seem to be overawed by its seeming infallibility.

The HONORABLE PRESIDENT EVO MORALES was treated as not even an ORDINARY CIVILIAN which is HIGHLY IMMORAL AND UNETHICAL. The USA, a hegemonic country and allies such as France, Spain, Portugal and Italy are equally careless enough to follow USA order guilty of endangering the life of the honorable president. Anyway, this is a MORAL VICTORY in favor of Honorable President Evo Morales.

Excellent comment. The US has been a tyrant for a very long time, sucking resources, withholding information for humanity. Now it's time the NAM countries strengthen their determination and help each other out so all peoples can be on equal footing. America thinks it spreads equality and democracy through its pseudo-history of emancipation and women's rights, so on, but it's useless now that it crushes equality among all peoples. So I say thank you, Mr. Morales, for standing up to a brutal dictator country.
