In other titillating pressing news, Los Angeles voters have passed the AIDS Healthcare Foundation-sponsored, Measure B, also known as the "Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act."
Male performers in pornography (gay and straight) will now be required to use condoms on set. The measure passed with a vote of 56 percent to 44 percent.

Not surprisingly, not everyone's thrilled about it.

Details after the jump.

On top (heh!) of the required condom usage, adult film producers will now have to apply for permits from the L.A. County Department of Public Health before shooting sex scenes. Porn sets will also be subject to random inspections. Violations of the condom policy will result in fines and potentially criminal misdemeanor charges.

There's already speculation that filming will move outside of Los Angeles County, or that the industry will simply go underground. (Any hotel room can be a porn set, y'all. Not that we'd know.)

Adult performer James Deen (and Lindsay Lohan's co-star in the surefire hit, The Canyons), who thus far has only participated in straight porn from the "research" we've done, says that the measure will cost California jobs and tax dollars.

He also likens the plight of the persecuted porn industry to that of homosexuals, women and minorities, saying:

"We are much like the homosexual, minority or female populations. We are a community of tax-paying and law-abiding voters who are currently being persecuted. But our opinions do matter, and I hope one day we get respect as these previously-stated groups and others have begun to receive."

Well....there's the small difference of porn actors not being born porn actors, which can't be said for the aforementioned groups, but we'll let his argument stand.
Thoughts on the passage of Measure B, Instincters? Will it be beneficial or will it do more harm than good? Should the sexual health choices of porn performers be regulated?
