Re: "Thaksin warns situation could get worse", News, February 23

From his threatening words via video link to his friends in a hotel ballroom, the fairness demanded by Thaksin Shinawatra is nothing short of the release of all his money presently frozen.

His reference to the International Criminal Court of Justice in case of dissatisfaction on his part is misconceived. This court is a permanent tribunal to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. This court can judge cases against him, not for him. If he meant the International Court of Justice, sometimes referred to as the World Court, this court is the primary judicial organ of the United Nations to settle legal disputes submitted by states, not by individuals.

Please advise him to "Google" to confirm the above clarifications before uttering such incomprehensible last straw efforts as misguided by his lawyers.

Tunnel vision, contradiction and hypocrisy

I happened to watch the "Thailand Directions in 2010" panel discussion on D-Channel last night, where Thaksin Shinawatra spoke via video link. As usual, Thaksin only presented his own side, and an incomplete version of his alleged unfair treatment received under the law. He spoke of the "higher institution" interfering in the Thai justice system without any reference or proven evidence. On the other hand, when he was PM, his interference in various government departments was well known. He cited a court ruling on a case in Oklahoma in favour of the defendant because of an unlawful search by police, without explaining why he supported military action in the Tak Bai incident, causing many deaths of defenceless citizens. He said "fruit from a poisonous tree" should not be condoned; however, when he was PM he initiated many policies, such as the [two- and three-digit] lottery without considering how this policy would propagate vice in our society. He said that many of his foreign business friends complained that Thailand should not put emphasis on the "nominee" issue, and at the same time he talked of "good governance" in business management.

The list goes on and on. So much contradiction. A crook cannot remember what he has said when he twists the facts so frequently. Thaksin should digest what he has read or heard before he translates it to the public instead of just reciting without understanding the intended true value of quotations. The year 2010 is completely different from 2003 when people were deceived by Thaksin's PR machine. Now Thaksin's ghost in the closet is out. No one will ever believe in his "honest mistake" again. If Thaksin is really sincere, I dare him to have a public debate on his innocence.
